Me? a quilter?

I might be crazy, but since I have fallen deeply┬áin love with my sewingmaching I have a feeling that I might start a quilt in 2008. I am not setting a startdate yet, but I am thinking about it all the time. I want a colorful quilt, and hopefully I’ll be done in time for fall 2008. Then I can snuggle up in my couch, underneath the quilt and be warm and toasty. I found out that the Sew, Mama, Sew blog has been blogging about quilting all month! So today, I am reading the post about different types of batting.

I got my package yesterday (this has been a great week mail-wise) and tore open the box in my hallway and just sat down in the hallway to start reading. I got four books, and I especially liked Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew by Amy Karol. I already know that I will be making alot of the projects in there. I also got Amy Butler’s In Stitches: More Than 25 Simple and Stylish Sewing Projects by Amy Butler, Sew U: The Built by Wendy Guide to Making Your Own Wardrobe by Wendy Mullin and Sew What! Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous Fabrics by Francesca DenHartog.

I need a new bookcase……

Stash and dash

. I have been using this little stash and dash bag all week, made from Amy Butlers pattern. It keeps me organised, and the colors remind me of spring.

Piggy boxbagI think I blogged about my sewingmachine earlier this year. I am really surprised how well things I have tried to sew actually turn out. To the left is my “Piggy boxbag”, made after this pattern. I loved making it, and it didnt turn out that bad?

I have made a couple of boxbags now, in different sizes, and I feel that I am getting quite good at zippers, padding, cutting, you name it. I have more detailed pichures ofmy black boxbag here, as an RSS feed.

Boxbags are not the only thing I have sewn, I started looking around the net for stuff I could use myself, and found a great pattern for a rolled-up, crochethookcase on Rolled up crochethook case

I have read so many great patterns this last week though, there are so many talented people out there who share their patterns. I truly appreciate this. So much work lies behind making these patterns, and I am enjoying both reading them and using them.

But back to the case, I like it! I used some strange fabric I had lying around, and I don’t find the result horrible. I really want to make this pattern in more vibrant colors though, and that is on my list of “craftythings to-do”.

To Rome

I am leaving on wednesday. We are going to Rome, and I can’t wait!

I have never been to Italy before, and I could use a little vacation. It’s raining in Norway today, maybe zero degrees celcius. In Rome, on the other hans, its between 5 and 10 degrees, and slighty overcast. Last week they had temperatures up to 15 degrees.

I have been reading up on the history of Rome (I love history), and wikipedia is my bff.

In crafty news, I have spent the weekend mostly in front of my sewingmachine. I wish I was better at sewing stuff, but I did manage to make some of these box-bags. I am going to tweak the pattern, and make my own style. My portable crafty project are two more pairs of felted slippers. I almost poked a guy with my knitting needles this morning on the bus, but he had it coming when he sat next to me anyway. I am usually left alone on the bus when I am knitting, but not today.
